The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on citizens nationwide to use the three-day period of solemn tribute ordered by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to honor the selfless service of the military and foster greater civic loyalty, harmony, and reverence for state emblems.
Speaking on the tragic Nigerian Air Force (NAF) plane crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu voiced profound sorrow over the disaster. He praised the fallen crew members for their bravery, discipline, and steadfast dedication to defending the country, stressing that their ultimate sacrifice will remain etched in the collective memory of the nation.
Issa-Onilu noted that the agency will actively oversee compliance with the presidential directive requiring flags to be flown at half-mast throughout the period. He reminded Nigerians that the national banner embodies the country’s sovereign pride and shared identity, urging everyone to observe the solemn tribute with utmost dignity.
In his message of solidarity to the Chief of the Air Staff, military personnel, and grieving families, the director-general shared deep sympathies and prayed for comfort and fortitude for those left behind.
He concluded by urging all citizens to let this moment of grief inspire renewed patriotism, solidarity, and appreciation for the armed forces, while reiterating the NOA’s dedication to championing civic duties and cultural values across the federation.
