The White House on Monday launched “TRUMP TV: The Essentials Station,” a 24/7 digital streaming platform featuring videos of US President Donald Trump, administration announcements and highlights from his presidency.

The White House’s official Live News page describes the platform as a continuously updated stream featuring “top videos, major remarks, and must-see highlights”. The launch was also announced through the White House’s official X account.

The platform brings together archival footage, speeches and administration updates, giving the White House a direct digital distribution channel for presidential video content. The initial stream included footage from Trump’s 2025 inauguration and other previous public appearances.

Launch Comes Amid Media Access Dispute
The launch comes amid a growing dispute between the Trump administration and several major news organisations over access to the White House.

CNN, MS NOW and Politico filed a federal lawsuit on Monday challenging the administration’s decision to bar their journalists from the White House grounds. The organisations argue that the restrictions violate constitutional protections for press freedom and due process.

Trump defended the restrictions while speaking to reporters in New York following his meeting with Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

“They said they were going to boycott me, but they never boycott me. So I wasn’t very worried about that. Look at all that press,” Trump said.

Trump also said the affected outlets had an obligation to report fairly and defended his administration’s decision to restrict their access.

The White House has argued that while the First Amendment protects the media’s right to publish, it does not automatically guarantee individual organisations access to White House grounds, briefing rooms or the presidential press pool. The legal dispute remains before the federal court.

Television Pool Also Hit
The dispute has also affected the White House television pool, which provides shared footage of presidential events to participating news organisations.

CNN is one of five networks — alongside ABC, CBS, Fox News and NBC — involved in the rotating pool. CNN had been scheduled to provide pool coverage of Trump’s activities in New York during the United Nations General Assembly. Following the access restrictions, the other networks suspended the pool rather than replacing CNN.

The developments coincide with Trump’s visit to New York for the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where he is scheduled to participate in the high-level General Debate and meet world leaders.

The launch of Trump TV comes as the White House expands its direct video distribution while facing a legal challenge from news organisations over access to presidential activities.
