Students of public schools in Lagos State were asked to go home on Monday morning due to the strike embarked upon by the organised labour.

The organised labour, comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), kicked off an indefinite strike on Monday over minimum wage and the hike in electricity tariff.

Our reporter observed that pupils of Ojodu Primary School and Ojodu Grammar School were returning home in ones, pairs and groups.

When our reporter asked some of them why, they revealed that they were turned back when they arrived at school this morning due to the strike.

While some of the schoolchildren lamented that their parents would have gone to work by the time they got home, others bemoaned the wasted effort and resources spent on going to school, only to be turned back.

EQToday also observed that although some pupils were still outside the entrance of Ojodu Primary School, the gate of Ojodu Grammar School had been shut.

Also, students at Agidingbi Grammar School, Ikeja were turned back home, with some still hanging around the school premises while others were seen heading back home.
