Emmanuel Adesoyin, a Lagos resident, contacted Moyosore Okon and other Lagos-based artists to participate in an advertisers.ng shoot for telecommunications giant MTN in March.
Okon was to act as an illustrator on the advert set for two days and Adesoyin offered him ₦30,000 per day. Based on their conversations, Adesoyin said the producer was offering ₦40,000 per day and he was keeping ₦10,000 out of it for recruiting them. Okon agreed.
The shoot began on March 26 and ended on March 27. Okon told www.aso.rocks that Adesoyin was yet to pay him five months after the shoot. When the artist asked, Adesoyin told him that the producer was responsible for the delay in payment.
“After I finished my work, Adesoyin said he would pay me no later than two months,” Okon told www.aso.rocks.
“He lied that the producer was yet to pay and, when I discovered the truth, he told me he used the money to ‘sort some personal issues’ and would pay me later, but he keeps giving excuses.
“Last time I asked, he said I should give him until August 14 but he never paid. While working on that shoot, we were made to go to venues as early as 6 am and we slept at a location once. So what was supposed to be two days became three days.

“On June 1, I sent him my account details but he began giving excuses so I approached the producer.”
In a July 2 Whatsapp conversation between Okon and the producer, www.aso.rocks saw that the producer expressed disappointment and assured the artist that she had paid Adesoyin on June 1 —the very day Okon sent his account details. Adesoyin would later confirm this to Okon.
The producer, whom he knew as Nkem, said, “Moyo, I am so livid right now. Manny (Emmanuel Adesoyin’s nickname) has been paid since the 1st of last month. There is nothing I hate more than someone lying on my name because I do not understand why he is still telling you all I haven’t paid.
“I know what I had to endure and the amount of fights I had to go through to make sure you all got paid after things started moving funny in-house. Collect your money and tell Manny that it is me that told you because I am cutting him off after this.”
Okon sent a message to Adesoyin on June 2 after speaking with Nkem. Adesoyin simply replied, “Alright boss.”
Okon’s conversation with Adesoyin
www.aso.rocks called Adesoyin on Saturday, but he did not respond to our calls. We called him again on Sunday but he ignored.
He read the Whatsapp messages www.aso.rocks sent to him on Saturday but did not reply.
On Sunday when we sent another message, Adesoyin replied saying he had come to an understanding with Okon. Okon, however, said Adesoyin had given the same excuses he had been giving in the past.
