The Christmas and New Year holidays in Ghana have been very
memorable and historic. Quite a handful of stars in the diaspora
trooped into the West African nation to spend the season and their
activities on social media prove they had a time of their
lives!
This was primarily made possible by Ghanaian-German actor, Boris
Kodjoe, who pledged to visit his father’s home country during the
festive season with some of his notable black celebrity
buddies.

“Being that my father was from Ghana and we visited my
grandmother, my cousins and my uncles. Every holiday we had makes
me really connected to our country,” he said in a video that was
shared prior to his visit.

“That’s why I’m so excited to bring 40 of my famous friends, some
of the world’s top celebrities to Accra in December, so they can
meet the people, feel the culture, connect with the energetic
heritage, they can relax on the beaches and tour the castles and
then share their experience with the millions and millions of
followers around the world,” he continued.

The decision to bring the dozens of celebrities to Ghana follows
a request from the Government of Ghana in line with its Year of
Return 2019 programme welcoming African Americans and the black
diaspora to return to the country where their ancestors were
kidnapped and enslaved in America some 400 years ago.
The Year of Return 2019 includes activities spread across the
year starting from the visit of the African American celebrities
funded by Ghana.

to those who independently joined in on the fun, Face2Face Africa
shares with you some of the familiar faces who were in town.
